Easter's arrival heralds the end of Malcolm's challenge to complete 10,000 steps every single day of Lent, to raise funds to buy food for children in Zambia - and we're happy to report that he did it!!
He stepped out every day of the 46 days from 2 March (Ash Wednesday) to 16 April (day before Easter Day), doing at least 10,000 steps and often many more (his daily average in his final week was 13,790). A lot of walking took place near home (sometimes an evening hike was required if he'd had a busy day working) but, over the six weeks, he took to the road in locations as varied as the north east coast and the Isles of Scilly.
Malcolm walked a total of 606,213 steps over the 46 days and so far has raised just over £1,500 (including gift aid). This money will ensure that the 46 children in the Project will have enough food to enable them to concentrate and perform well in school.
Many, many thanks to everyone who contributed to Malcolm's Steps Challenge. The link for donations will remain open until 16 May (see Fundraising page) if anyone else would like to support us.
